Applications are invited for a suitably qualified clinician to work on physiological mechanisms of neural reorganisation longitudinally during recovery after stroke using transcranial magnetic stimulation techniques. The work will aim to define structural factors which might facilitate or inhibit neural plasticity in these circumstances. The appointee will rotate with three other Associates already in post, each spending 6 months in 8 at the Institute of Neurology and 2 months at the Wellington Hospital.

Applicants should be Registered Medical Practitioners with experience in Clinical Neurology, Stroke Medicine or Neurological Rehabilitation at SHO and/or Registrar level and hold MRCP or equivalent. Research undertaken will qualify towards SpR training and accreditation and the incumbent will be expected to apply for a higher degree. The post is available immediately and is funded for 3 years.

Starting salary will be on either the CL7 (Clinical Research Associate) pay scale or CL8 (Senior Clinical Research Associate) pay scale, depending on skills and experience, and will be in the range £33,466 - £41,692 per annum inclusive of £2,781 pa London Allowance (CL7), or £41,692 - £47,193 per annum inclusive of £2,781 per annum London Allowance (CL8), superannuable, plus clinical supplement of £1,333 per month for the 2 clinical months on the rota.
