We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified candidate to the above post which is available 3 years to work on a 5 year research project on multiscale methodology for enhanced damage tolerance of composite materials in submarine environment subject to underwater explosion.
You will have a good first degree plus doctorate (or be very close to completion) in engineering, materials science, physics or related discipline, or have significant relevant industrial experience. Experience with, and expertise in, experimental characterisation of composite materials for structural design coupled with a demonstrable knowledge of the finite element method and constitutive modelling as well as stochastic modelling of material's response to loading are essential. Excellent communication and team working skills with the ability to perform novel research and write research papers are also required. Experience with high-speed date acquisition and/or development and implementation of constitutive models on FE software are desirable.
